Amtico Stone Flooring Stars in James Bond Movie

For over four decades, Amtico International has designed, engineered and manufactured the most innovative resilient flooring products in the world, and 2008 has been no different.

Pinewood Studios, the production company for the latest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, has commissioned Amtico International to provide flooring for one of the many exciting scenes in the film.

Amtico International provided 120 square metres of flooring, from the ‘feel exclusive’ stones collection. This product was chosen for the renowned durability of Amtico’s ranges and most importantly, the desire to recreate the look of a marble floor for a scene filmed in an Italian art gallery.

Quantum of Solace’s supervising art director, Chris Lowe commented: “I have to say, we noted at the time that we were very relieved that we chose to use Amtico flooring, as other flooring methods would never have lasted the duration of the shoot. It stood up remarkably well and we were delighted by the results.”

Lighter coloured flooring can be achieved with Sapwoods, the younger part of the tree. Amtico sapwood flooring overcomes the problems of shrinking and softness which usually companies sapwood flooring materials.

The rarest fruitwood flooring is from cherry trees which can live for up to 200 years, and grow very slowly, but is also a hard material with beautiful grain effects.

Black Flooring

Black Flooring

When redesigning a living space, there are many things you must consider. Black Flooring can have a significant impact on the lighting effects of your space. Whilst many black flooring solutions are created using hard materials such as slate and granite, these can be both hard and cold, not an appealing flooring material choice for a living room, but better for the functional requirements of kitchen flooring.

Black wooden flooring is both more forgiving and warm, and can also be used to create subtle lighting effects in the room.

Textured black floors can be used to create striped effects by following the grain of the floor, or black floor tiles can be laid in alternate directions to create a chess board effect in the floor due to the different light reflections.

The same effects can be achieved with black graphite, metal or charcoal flooring effects.

A black flooring scheme is an excellent idea in rooms with low lighting to accentuate the effect. It contracts well with white walls, metallic or glass furniture and wall coverings.
